We are now pleased to announce the entry requirements for the 19th International Exhibition of Young Inventors!

Dear friends! 

We are now pleased to announce the entry requirements for the 19th International Exhibition for Young Inventors (IEYI)*, which will be held in August 2024 in Taipei, Taiwan.

Eligibility:

  • Contestants must be students between 6 to 19 years old (inclusive).

The Contest is held in two age groups:

  • from 6 to 13 years old – Junior Group
  • from 14 to 19 years old – Senior Group

Students of schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, colleges, as well as other educational institutions can submit their projects both individually and as part of a team of up to three people.

The project must fulfil one of the ten categories:

(1) Disaster Management; 
(2) Education; 
(3) Recreation & Sports; 
(4) Food & Agriculture; 
(5) Green Technology & Sustainability; 
(6) Safety & Health; 
(7) Technology for Special Needs; 
(8) Technology for Elderly People; 
(9) Industrial Design & Convenience Devices for Daily Life; 
(10) Artwork (consisting of new forms of science and technology).

The invention should be a finished product weighing less than 10 kg, not exceeding 1 metre in width, length and height.

Inventions must fulfil all the requirements of the exhibition, not belong to the field of basic scientific research or pure art. Inventions must be safe. Inventions involving explosive, corrosive, poisonous substances and combustible materials, as well as living organisms will not be accepted for consideration. 

Important dates: 

01-31.05.2024 - online registration; 
15.06.2024 - submission of applications;
02-06.08.2024 - evaluation of entries.

Belarusian participants can register online and submit their applications on their own at https://www.ieyiun.org/ or contact us by e-mail at office@lexpatent.by. The contact person in Belarus is Svetlana Koroliova, Patent Attorney of the Republic of Belarus

The application must contain: 

  • a completed registration form;
  • the most detailed material that will enable the experts to evaluate the project, as well as annexes with illustrative material (drawings, schemes, maps, tables, photographs, etc.);
  • a 1-2 minute video of your invention in English. The video should demonstrate the creativity, operability, marketability and benefits of the submitted invention.

 Some of the main objectives of IEYI are the following:

  • to stimulate the creative approach for innovations and inventions;
  • to develop applicable skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills in students;
  • to provide students with design knowledge and skills needed for their future career;
  • to fuel students' understanding of the world around them by triggering scientific thinking and promoting learning of core concepts in science;
  • to create an atmosphere of freedom of thought for the development of young inventors in the creative environment;
  • to strengthen the interchange of cultures and to encourage the acculturalization of youth invention.
